According to Euronews, the European Central Bank has revealed the shortlisted designs for the next generation of euro banknotes. The ten finalist concepts highlight a blend of cultural heritage and natural symbols intended to represent the continent. The proposed themes feature prominent historical figures, including Leonardo da Vinci, Maria Callas, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Marie Curie.
In addition to these cultural representations, the designs incorporate emblematic European birds, such as the white stork, to symbolise natural landscapes. These updates, which are set to be implemented from 2026, represent a significant redesign of the currency. The selection process reflects a focus on themes that resonate with European identity and the continent's diverse history.
