The European Commission has announced a decision to provide Spain with €114.7 million in emergency assistance, according to a press release from the European Commission published on 9 September 2026. The funding is intended to help manage the situation in Ceuta following large-scale illegal border crossings that occurred on 30 and 31 July.
This financial support builds upon the Commission's immediate response from the first day of the events, when it offered Spain both financial and operational assistance. According to the European Commission, the decision further demonstrates its full solidarity with Spain in addressing the challenging situation.
