Kazakhstan has successfully transformed itself into Central Asia's leading tennis hub following a strategic investment programme that began in 2007. Reporting by Euronews indicates that the country has channelled more than $200 million into the sport over this period.
The substantial financial backing has been used to expand tennis infrastructure across the nation and to establish dedicated professional academies. These developments have helped to significantly increase the popularity and accessibility of the sport throughout the country.
Today, participation levels have grown to nearly 45,000 active players. Furthermore, the long-term investment strategy has yielded elite-level success, most notably resulting in the country producing its first world number one tennis player, Elena Rybakina.
