Within that period, electric vehicles accounted for 26.8% of all new registrations. In August alone, the share of electric cars rose sharply to 36.1%, indicating a strong month‑on‑month increase and confirming the growing popularity of fully electric models.
The data suggest that Portugal's push towards greener mobility is gaining traction, with alternative‑energy vehicles now dominating three‑quarters of new car sales and electric cars forming more than a third of the latest monthly market.
