Six months after her death, Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton’s personal collection is being auctioned across four sales in New York and Los Angeles this June, organized by Bonhams under the title “The Architecture of an Icon.” The sales include her wardrobe, art, home furnishings, and film memorabilia, with the original, untitled script for 1977’s Annie Hall estimated at $2,000 to $3,000.

Keaton died in October 2025 at age 79 from pneumonia. The auctions, which began with online sales on May 31, feature over 550 lots spanning her five-decade career as an actress, designer, author, and style icon. Items range from clothing by Ralph Lauren, Thom Browne, and Comme des Garçons to furnishings from her Sullivan Canyon home and collages she created herself.

According to Bonhams, Keaton was not merely a collector but a “consummate editor,” choosing each item with precision and clarity. Her sister, Dorrie Hall, described her as guided by “an unerring visual and creative intuition” that shaped her work across decades.

The first of the four sales, “Diane Keaton: Tailored and Timeless,” offers over 200 of her outfits and accessories online through June 9. Among them is a Ralph Lauren Purple Label houndstooth jacket estimated at $200 to $300.

A live auction titled “Architect of an Icon” will take place in New York on June 8, featuring 50 top-shelf items, including a Gucci sequin skirt and beret worn to the 2021 LACMA gala and another copy of the Annie Hall script, each estimated at $2,000 to $3,000.

Two additional online sales follow in Los Angeles: “At Home with Diane,” running June 1 through June 10, offers more than 150 furnishings from her properties, including cement planters, couches, and a metal step ladder from her Sullivan Canyon home, expected to sell for $1,000 to $1,500. The ladder’s rungs are stacked with her books, a clock, a planter, and a hat.

The final sale, “Chapters of an Edited Life,” runs from June 1 through June 11 and includes over 150 works of art, books, and ephemera from her personal collection.

The auctions are preceded by exhibitions in New York and Los Angeles to highlight the breadth of her influence, which includes artworks by Robert Rauschenberg and Ed Ruscha, as well as pieces gifted by collaborators like Jack Nicholson.

Despite the cultural weight of the items, many estimates appear modest — a reflection, according to observers, of the sudden volume of material entering the market rather than a lack of value. The structure of the sale mirrors the recent auction of director David Lynch’s estate, which likewise saw strong interest in personal artifacts.

Keaton’s legacy extends beyond film: she was a twice New York Times bestselling author, a renovator of properties for profit, and a consistent presence at industry events, including the Oscars, where her co-star Rachel McAdams recently praised her as someone who “wore so many hats” but valued motherhood above all.

Auction Scale The Bonnie’s sale of Diane Keaton’s estate spans four distinct sales over 11 days, offering more than 550 lots across fashion, art, furniture, and film memorabilia.

What types of items are included in the auctions?

Why are some estimates for high-profile items relatively low?

Analysts suggest the modest estimates for items like the Ralph Lauren jacket or the Annie Hall script reflect the large volume of lots being offered simultaneously, not a lack of demand or cultural significance.

How does this sale compare to other recent celebrity estate auctions?

The structure and timing of the Diane Keaton sale resemble the 2025 auction of director David Lynch’s estate, which also featured hundreds of personal items and drew strong public interest in the weeks following its announcement.
