Peter Kay will perform four charity shows at Bolton’s Albert Halls in July 2026, marking his first appearance at the venue in 23 years.

The comedian announced the homecoming gigs as a thank you to his hometown, with all proceeds directed to Bolton Hospice. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday 24 April and are restricted to residents with a BL postcode.

Shows are scheduled for the evenings of 9, 10 and 11 July, plus a matinee on 11 July at 2.30pm. The Albert Halls last hosted Kay in 2003, when he recorded the stand-up special that remains the UK’s best-selling comedy DVD of all time.

Kay described the hospice as an “amazing charity” that relies on donations to deliver vital services. Judith Bromley, chair of Bolton Hospice, called the shows a “fantastic surprise” and said the funds raised would craft a “huge difference” to local users of their care.

The intimate performances will feature material from his current UK tour, Better Late Than Never, adapted for the smaller venue. Kay has been playing sold-out arena dates since late 2022 as part of that tour.

Only fans living in Bolton and parts of Bury with BL postcodes are eligible to purchase tickets, a restriction intended to prioritise local supporters. The Bolton News noted the shows will be an “unexpected treat” for residents.

Kay previously supported Bolton Hospice and the Crescent Foodbank Bolton in a sell-out ‘in conversation’ event with Sara Cox last September. The Albert Halls has also hosted charitable events by other figures, including Sir Ian McKellen’s 80th birthday celebration.

How the postcode restriction shapes fan access

The BL postcode limit creates a tiered system where only Bolton and Bury residents can buy tickets, excluding fans from elsewhere despite national demand. This approach reverses the typical pattern for major comedy acts, who usually prioritise broad public sales before considering local exclusives.

Why Bolton Hospice benefits from Kay’s return

Bolton Hospice relies heavily on community donations to fund palliative care, bereavement support and day services for patients across the region. Kay’s long-standing relationship with the charity includes multiple fundraising appearances, with these shows representing his most significant contribution to date.

What the Albert Halls venue means to Kay’s legacy

The Albert Halls holds particular significance in Kay’s career as the site of his record-breaking 2003 DVD, which captured his rise to national fame during a period when regional comedians rarely achieved mainstream success. Returning to the same stage after two decades creates a symbolic bookend to that era of his work.

When do tickets go on sale?

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday 24 April 2026.

Who is eligible to buy tickets?

Only fans who live at a BL postcode, covering Bolton and parts of Bury, are eligible to purchase tickets for the shows.

All profits from the four shows will be donated to Bolton Hospice.

Why is Peter Kay returning to the Albert Halls after 23 years?

Kay said the shows are a thank you to the people of Bolton for their support over the years, particularly highlighting Bolton Hospice as an amazing charity that depends on donations.
