How Trout's performance compares to baseball history

Mike Trout’s fifth home run in a four-game series against the New York Yankees made him the first player to achieve that feat in Yankee Stadium history.

How Trout’s performance compares to baseball history

Trout joined Jimmie Foxx (1933), Darrell Evans (1985) and George Bell (1990) as the only players with five homers in a series against the Yankees, according to MLB researcher Sarah Langs. His 446-foot drive in the seventh inning of the series finale gave the Los Angeles Angels a 7-4 lead en route to an 11-4 victory. Trout went 6-for-16 with five homers and nine RBIs across the four games.

What Trout and his teammates said about the streak

Trout called the achievement “pretty surreal” while noting the legacy of great players who have played at Yankee Stadium. Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said it was “not surprising” given Trout’s daily work ethic, adding that “there’s nothing that you believe that he can’t do.” Jo Adell, who hit a grand slam in the eighth inning, described Trout’s performance as “vintage” and “one of a kind.”

How the Yankees responded to the offensive duel

Aaron Judge homered twice in the series finale and four times matching his usual power output against the Angels. Giancarlo Stanton acknowledged the difficulty of facing both Trout and Judge in the same series, calling it “unreal” while noting fans must “acknowledge the greatness.” Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected for the first time this season during an eighth-inning dispute.

Why is this series significant for Trout’s career?

Trout has now homered in five straight games at Yankee Stadium, dating back to the 2025 season, and joins Judge as the only players to accomplish that at the current ballpark which opened in 2009. The Elias Sports Bureau noted it was the first time opposing players with multiple MVPs each hit at least three homers in the same series.

What does this mean for the Angels’ standing?

The Angels improved to 10-10 with the series win, moving into second place in the American League West behind the Athletics (10-8). Trout is hitting .246 with seven homers and 16 RBIs for the season, and is 9-for-27 with five homers and 13 RBIs on the Angels’ recent road trip.
